Anthropic's startup offer favours companies new to Claude Team
The News
On October 6, 2026, Anthropic expanded Claude Startups, its programme for founders building companies on Claude, and said it is opening the programme to more companies. Members can get up to $7,000 in Claude products and credits, Anthropic says: a free year of Claude Team, covering up to five Premium seats for companies new to Team, and a one-time $1,000 API credit. A new Claude Startup Stack adds discounts and credits from other companies, which Anthropic values at up to $45,000 combined. Members can also book virtual office hours with Anthropic's Applied AI team, and get hands-on help building a listing for Claude Marketplace, where Anthropic says people using Claude find connectors and plugins, and submitting it for review. Startups founded in the last five years or funded in the last two are eligible to apply.

Know More
- — Review time: Anthropic's programme page says most applications are decided within minutes and the rest go to a manual review that usually takes 2–3 business days. Its Official Terms say it selects applicants on a rolling basis.
- — The Startup Stack figure: up to $45,000 is the combined maximum value of all Startup Stack offers at partner list prices as of September 2026, according to the announcement. Actual value depends on which offers a company redeems, its plan and its team size, and a company may not be able to receive or combine all of them.
- — Sample offers on the programme page: $5,000 in ClickHouse Cloud credits, 12 months free plus 33 million characters from ElevenLabs, three months of Granola Business free for up to 10 seats, and six months free on Hex's Enterprise plan.
- — Office hours: the programme page describes 45-minute live sessions held every other week. The Additional Benefits Addendum commits Anthropic to no particular amount of support, and a residuals clause lets it use, for any purpose and without obligation to the member, information, ideas, know-how and techniques of a general nature that staff who had access to the member's confidential information retain in unaided memory. The clause grants no licence under the member's patents or copyrights and does not permit disclosure of the confidential information itself.
- — Taxes: the Official Terms say API credits may have different tax implications than cash awards, and that Anthropic will not issue tax documentation such as 1099 forms for them unless the law specifically requires it.
Anthropic put the arithmetic for Claude Startups, its programme for founders building companies on Claude, in a footnote. A year of Claude Team with five Premium seats, at $100 a seat a month billed annually, comes to $6,000. A one-time $1,000 API credit makes up the rest of the up to $7,000 that Anthropic’s October 6 announcement says members can get. A business already paying for Team is outside the $6,000 line. “Only orgs that are new to Teams qualify for this offer,” the programme page says.
Neither page says what happens when the year ends. Anthropic’s terms for Claude subscription offers, which cover Team plans, say that unless an offer specifies otherwise, a plan not cancelled before the offer period ends “will automatically continue as a paid subscription” at the then-current standard price. The Startups pages don’t say whether those terms apply here, so a team should ask Anthropic before it relies on the seats.
Startups founded in the last five years or funded in the last two can apply, and the programme page says that includes bootstrapped ones. Anthropic decides who gets in. Its Official Terms list factors it will consider, “including, but not limited to, business traction, investment, and funding, as well as Claude integration and usage,” and say ultimate eligibility is “determined in Anthropic’s sole discretion.”
Some offers in the up to $45,000 Startup Stack are discounts on plans a company still pays for, such as 25% off a first year of Gamma Pro annual, and the Marketplace help serves a company with a connector or plugin to list. The offer as a whole suits a young or recently funded company that has not bought Team and is building on Claude. A founder backed by a VC in Anthropic’s partner network can also get up to $100,000 in API credits through that VC, the programme page says. An agency or store already on Team, if it qualifies by age or funding, should value it mainly at the API credit, the office hours and the partner offers it would have bought anyway, and read the publicity clause before applying.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Anthropic guarantee the Claude Startup Stack offers?
No. Its Additional Benefits Addendum says the offers come from independent third-party companies, and that Anthropic does not “create, offer, issue, fund, redeem, supply, provide, sell, fulfill, administer, verify or guarantee” any of them. Each provider's own terms govern redemption, and Anthropic does not guarantee that an offer is “current, accurate, available or will be honored.” For the purposes of the programme's limitation of liability, the Addendum says the Stack Benefits are not “Program Benefits” with any attributable value.
Does the $1,000 API credit expire?
Anthropic's programme page says the credits expire six months after they are granted, and that an accepted company claims them on the Claude Startups page in the Claude Console. The same page says they apply to the first-party Claude API through the Claude Console, so they cannot be used on AWS Bedrock or Google Vertex AI.
What does Anthropic get from Claude Startups members?
Its Official Terms give Anthropic permission to use a member's name and logo to identify it publicly as a Selected Awardee and Anthropic customer, except where prohibited by law. They also commit members to consider in good faith any request to provide an executive quote about why the company uses Anthropic's services, or to take part in public co-marketing. A company in line for selection may be required to sign an affidavit of compliance and a publicity and liability release within 14 calendar days of Anthropic's request, or the benefits may be forfeited.
