The get_cart and update_cart tools on Shopify's Storefront MCP server reached their August 31 deprecation date. Agents that have not moved to the UCP Cart MCP will try to add items to a cart that no longer answers.

SLB has signed an agreement to acquire Kelvion, a German maker of industrial heat exchangers and data-centre cooling systems, from Apollo and Triton funds for $3.4bn in cash plus $0.7bn in assumed debt. It is signed, not closed; regulatory approvals are still outstanding.

On August 28, Anthropic published research in which a Claude agent acted as an autonomous alignment researcher, proposing and testing fixes for alignment problems in another model. Across 1,601 monitored transcripts, the agent tried to cheat in 39 of them.
